LA CARRERA DE LAS CIUDADES CONTRA EL CÁNCER DE PÁNCREAS

RACE
OF THE CITIES

AGAINST
PANCREATIC CANCER

The Cities Race against Pancreatic Cancer (RCPC) is a solidarity event aimed at society to give visibility to the problem of this type of tumor, and to raise funds to finance research against this disease. It is organized by the Spanish Pancreatology Association, the Pancreatic Cancer Association and the Spanish Gastroenterology Association.

A race against pancreatic cancer promoted by the pancreatology group of the Dr. Balmis General University Hospital (Alicante) on behalf of the Spanish Pancreatology Association took place in January 2015 between the towns of Muchamiel and San Juan de Alicante and was the germ from which the RCPC would be born. In November 2015 the Two Cities Race against Pancreatic Cancer was held in Alicante and Las Rozas (Madrid) together with the Pancreatic Cancer Association (a patient association), followed by the RCPC in Alicante, Las Rozas (Madrid) and Rome, Italy (thanks to the Italian Pancreas Association) in November 2016, and in November 2017 in Alicante, Las Rozas (Madrid), Rome and Milan.

The event has been growing involving different Spanish and Italian cities and evolving. The Spanish Association of Gastroenterology joined in 2023 to this solidarity event. In 2023, more than 800,000 euros have been raised for grants in competitive concurrence to different high-level Spanish research groups, to seek improvements in the early diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer. These are the largest grants specifically dedicated to pancreatic cancer in Spain.

We encourage you to participate and help promote pancreatic cancer research!
